Introduction to Anatomy
Definition of Anatomy :
The study of the structure of the body and the relationship of
its constituent parts to each other.
Other Fields of Anatomy
1.Developmental anatomy (Embryology) The study of the
sequence of events taking place to produce a full-term human being.
2. Applied and clinical anatomy: The study of the structural
observations which are significant in medicine to help in diagnosing
and treating diseases.
3. Surface anatomy: The study of the external anatomical features
of the body by sight, without dissection.
4 Instrumental anatomy The use of instruments to visualize
deep organs. It includes: Endoscopy, Radiology, Ultrasonography
Terms of Movement
A. Flexion: The approximation of two surfaces. .
B.Extension: Occurs in the opposite direction.
C.Abduction: This movement brings the part.
away from the median plane or the central axis of
the body.
E. Adduction: This movement brings the part
towards the median plane or the central axis of
the body.
G. Rotation: Turning the part along its
longitudinal axis.
